About me
Hello I’m Jono. I was never meant to be a Product Designer but a short-lived dream to become a journalist has landed me here and to be honest, I'm thrilled. My ideas are good but the best ones are never just mine. The work I’m most proud of has stemmed from listening to people. People with different experiences, who talk about complex problems – problems that demand fresh perspectives. Because it’s through others that I'm able to do my job properly. You’ll likely find me staring at a Mac , head tilted to one side, piecing together abstract ideas and crafting them into workable solutions. But it’s the time spent when my head’s out of a screen that’s the most important. I like to borrow from what’s around me, breaking down the everyday and repurposing it into products that feel new and exciting, yet familiar and obvious. It’s always nice when people say your work looks good. That feeling you get having spent time tweaking pixels and fiddling with typography is an undeniable pleasure. But in truth, nothing’s more satisfying than knowing what I’ve created is, at its core, impactful and useful. For me, the ultimate compliment is someone using something I’ve designed years later.

My BA Hons in English may be a less conventional gateway to an MA in Design Interactions. Yet, it has given me a strong grounding in relevant skills which are essential to both: the art of storytelling, intuitive structure and detailed human cognitive analysis. I built on this foundation through extra-curricular activities, having learnt design software at my university newspaper, and teaching myself to code in order to contribute to a variety of web projects as a young adult.
