About me
Hi! I'm Jono, I'm a freelance photographer, specializing in fashion and life-style photography. Working alongside BestPartiesEver and Vermont Images, I have also shot many events before with over 900+ guests , including Waitrose and Cisco. I've been involved with corporate imagery too, working with Microsoft UK for content for an upcoming event. Long term I am looking to graduate in Creative Advertising, I love the subject as it's dynamic, creative, and always changing to it's environment. I am an enthusiastic, confident and organised person who strives to achieve in everything I do. I am versatile and can adapt to any situation and can be as flexible as the job requires. I work well with others within groups or teams and can also work independently using my own initiative. My previous experience in retail, photography and also advertising has allowed me to develop into a well-rounded individual who has good communication and customer service skills, and who can deal with their requests and concerns. Anyway, that's enough about me, if you want to get in contact and have a chat over coffee, please feel free to email me through jono_shaw@tiscali.co.uk .
Projects
  • BestPartiesEver
BestPartiesEver I worked at Vermont Images for 2 months during a busy Christmas period, whereby I was contracted to do Corporate Christmas Party shoots in conjunction with ‘BestPartiesEver’. The size of the events ranged from 300-950 guests, so I was often working under pressure, with tight deadlines. The job required me to shoot both 50 photos per event of people enjoying themselves for the BestPartiesEver marketing team, and also had a ‘photo booth’ set up where I would take group and couples photos against a white background with studio flashes. Customers had the opportunity to purchase the photos throughout the night, which required a high-level of customer service skills in order to take the photos, process payments and print the photos within a small timeframe. I very much enjoyed working at these events, as they were lively, and there was a scope for my own creativity when it came to the photography. Vermont Images’ owner has invited me to help out at other events in the near future, when I am available. He has also highly recommended me to other photographers, and have had contact from a leading sports photographer to work alongside him full time.
Work history
    Sales Assistant / Photographer
Barkham Rd, Barkham, Wokingham RG41, UKFull Time
I have worked at Mountain Trax for nearly 2 years now, where I combine both retail, photography and brand work. The job requires me to work within a team of staff, where we all have to be coherent and communicate in order to offer the best service to the customers. I provide all the photography for the new website, and run the social media accounts for the shop. Social media and advertising is key for the company as we are not in close proximity to a main town, so we have to push web sales, and also encourage people to visit the shop. The extensive work on the social media pages has seen a great improvement in sales and footfall of the business. I often am in charge of the shop on weekends, a role which I was quickly moved into. A typical day in the shop would include getting newly delivered bikes built and displayed on the shop floor, helping customers with their questions, and recommending products. As it is a specialist store, the customers expect us to know all about the products and bikes we stock, thus leading us to provide a very high level of customer service. Furthermore to this, I have to manage customers myself and guide them step by step through choosing a bike, this may take a number of weeks, meaning it is paramount to stay in contact with my customers throughout the process. I very much enjoy the job as I am an enthusiast myself, which shows through when I work.

Education
    3 x A Levels (Business Studies, History and Product Design) & 11 x GCSE's A-C
     - Ascot, United Kingdom
I enjoyed studying for my A- Levels at Ranelagh School and I have achieved 3 A2 Levels and also I have gained 11 GCSE’s with my grades between A–C. (see below) I am looking to study Advertising at University as Business Studies and Product Design both merge well to naturally lead me to Advertising. At school, I participated at school in the Young Enterprise competition where we created our own profitable, successful and award-winning business, which was rated in the National Top 10 out of 4000 entries and made it to the National Final. I was chosen to be the Managing Director which involved running weekly meetings, calling suppliers and presenting in front of 900 people, including the Head Buyer for John Lewis. Our products were retailed by 2 home-ware businesses in the local area and we were in negotiations with John Lewis and notonthehighstreet.com about becoming suppliers for them. The process of talking to our suppliers and manufacturers was a huge learning curve and has given me a real insight into industry ways. Young Enterprise, and my school studies in general, have shown me how to run a business and how a business works. Also, my confidence has grown after presenting to large numbers of people, calling suppliers and visiting manufacturers. Moreover, my role as MD helped my leadership skills grow and how to delegate to members in a team effectively whilst keeping them motivated and satisfied.  English Language A  English Literature A  Mathematics A  Core Science B  Additional Science B  Resistant Materials A  French B  History A  Religious Education C  Business B  Information Technology B
