Having worked in publishing on an international scale, I have experience in content creation and editing particularly from an arts and culture oriented angle. I have helped to launch the internationally distributed title Marfa Journal as Managing Editor in addition to freelance writing work for platforms like Wax Poetics, Brick and Nowness. Having studied Film with particular emphasis on Production Design, I have developed a creatively geared mind in all my pursuits, with practical and theoretical knowledge to support it.
MARFOFFICE LTD. is a UK-based publishing and creative agency. It releases the biannual title Marfa Journal, and coordinates projects that support it. Some notable examples include a Marfa Journal x Gosha Rubchinskiy talk as part of ICA London's Culture Now lecture series in Summer 2014, several pop-up parties across venues like Soho House Berlin, Colette Paris, Ace Hotel London & Los Angeles and a Miami Art Basel 2015 special event in collaboration with Baby's All Right.
Created by editor-in-chief Alexandra Gordienko in 2013 – MARFA JOURNAL is a collaborative project, presenting an intimate take on the current state of culture. It blends various disciplines of contemporary arts into the format of a hardcover book. The biannual title has crafted itself a multi-faceted profile with public events and brand collaborations that are true to the zeitgeist spirit of the magazine. Marfa Journal’s physical edition mixes personal photography with intimate interviews and extends across 300 pages. It has featured Lana Del Rey, Gaspar Noe, Larry Flynt, the Odd Future collective, Chloe Sevigny, Paz de la Huerta, Richard Mosse, Jeffrey Deitch and many other progressive figures. My role as Managing Editor has been to liaise with external agents (stockists, distributors and other industry professionals) daily, to build a profitable profile on which to develop creative and commercial ties - while filling editorial duties; e.g. proofreading, commissioning content, conducting interviews and ensuring a consistent tone across all copy.
