About me
Designing to enrich the experience within the environment around people has always been an interest of mine. I personally believe in creating pragmatic design. A design that works for those that inhabit it but still not neglecting the aesthetic, for example how material choices influence the experience in the designed environment. My approach is to constantly experiment to find a balance between this. Over the summer I worked alongside my cohort in a community project at “The Mill” in Walthamstow. Tasked with consulting those that use the community centre, we were investigating how we could re-design the spaces to make it more ergonomic and attractive to new visitors. During the project I have learned to analyse opinions and respond accordingly. Also working in a timely fashion accounting for problems that may arise, I had to able to assist the team if the situation requires. In my own time I learn to use more programs so I can design efficiently. Due to this I am becoming confident in using Auto CAD and Sketchup. Starting my own project of annexing a scout building and creating a space for the gardeners of the allotments under one roof. By doing this I am looking to analyse my own ideas, continually test them and then be honest whether I have resolved an area of design thoughtfully. I believe I can help create a wholesome experience for people within the designed architecture. I am eager develop new skills and ready to make mistakes, as it is the only way to learn and prove why I am a fitting candidate

I had worked shadowing two architects on live projects during my second year of study at university. The first project: A masterplan in Wembley for a university campus I was tasked with creating a document highlighting important features of the immediate site: points of interest, walkways and conservation areas. Mainly working through on Adobe Indesign and Illustrator. The second task was designing a plant screen which would conceal all the mechanical fans and appliances on the roof of the hotel, which the firm was designing. Smaller in scale compared to the first task it was taking into account detail, structure and the language of the facade. Designed through a combination of sketching and using Google Sketch up, the task allowed for learning regarding smaller intricacies usually not picked up on during academic work during university study.
