About me
The world's worst surfer and procrastinator worldwide artist became an advertising Creative Director. José Godinho Marques (aka Zeca) started his career at DDB Lisbon, back in the nineties, with only 19 years old. A pure and happy slave for storyboard overnight projects. At the same time, he started his graduation on Visual Communication Design, at the Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade de Lisboa. Smashed by teachers when presenting artworks with the help of the agency's Macintosh Quadras™, now at some design museums. Later on, with design skills in the bag, he joined one of the most awarded agencies at the time in Portugal – Z. CDP Europe. This was the beginning of a very long journey as an art director, in international networks such as Euro RSCG and DMB&B, and a few more portuguese agencies: Nova Publicidade, Abrinício (JWT Group) and MKT/Brandia. In the new century, he joined JWT Lisbon as a senior Art Director for 5 years, developing at the same time his teaching skills at Etic Communication School, as well as his eternal passion for craft, painting and illustration. In 2006 he moved to McCann Lisbon, and 5 years later was invited to become the agency's Chief Creative Officer. That was not on the plan. All of a sudden, he gave a whole new creative shape to the oldest international agency in Portugal along with a fantastic and fast growing group of people, and recruited the best talent to become part of the new McCann Lisbon. Working on a wide range of clients, from smoked ham to banks or airlines, he won several awards and finalist titles in some of the most important advertising festivals – Cannes, One Show, Eurobest, The New York Festivals, FIAP, Effies, The Portuguese Creative Club.
Nominated Dad of the year, every year, since 2002. And still waking up everyday with the smile of someone who loves his job and the people who loves it too.
