Joshua Obara Norwood is an abstract expressionist artist working with oils, encaustic and found objects. His works often imitate emotions, transporting them from the person to the canvas. He places memories onto his works- sometimes chipping them off if he wishes them to be gone. Or simply transporting them from self to canvas.
His works usually have multiple layers. Every new layer adds a new history and story to work. Sometimes one story is incomplete without blending into the previous stories by scratching into the work so that the previous layers are visible.

Is currently volunteering at the Open Eye Gallery from 2021 to the present. Helped to manage the front of house and communicated with facilitators, artists and visitors in the gallery, over the phone and through email. Reported press of exhibitions hosted at the gallery and researched online gallery presence while helping to manage the social media - keeping them up to date.
Also helped keep analytical and SEO data up to date during the interim of the gallery hiring a new SEO manager. Transported and handled frames, artwork and loose prints for installation and condition checking. General upkeep of the store and managed the point of sale; helped install three exhibitions and helped with the public opening of the Sony Awards Show exhibition at the Open Eye.
Experience painting walls, sanding and fitting art to the wall, and opening the exhibition to the public.

Volunteered for the exhibitions SLAP BANG! and At No. 25 in Warrington. Communicated and explained the purpose of the exhibitions to hundreds of people at the Warrington Mall (At No.25) and the old M&S building (SLAP BANG!).
I was at the front of the house and collected visitor figures and comments closed the gallery space, and maintained the space.
