About me

Whether it is a cure or a blessing to be an artist, I love it. I believe there is a cross-correlation between personal and professional development in this area, so in order to create good art, I must seek to be the best human being I am capable of. Also, I love that having a career within art makes it 'legal' to express yourself in all the possible ways, question your sanity, and raise issues which wouldn't' be raised on a daily basis. Working as a freelance illustrator during my studies and after graduation, I have been constantly driven to push my boundaries and challenge my skills and my intelligence. And it was a great reward to be given an Artist in Residence Award by Solent Showcase Gallery, to be commissioned to design couple of book covers for BFI Publishing/Palgrave Macmillan, to be a representative of Southampton Solent University within various art festivals, conferences and workshops organized by international VIVID project, and being employed as a Visiting Lecturer in BA(Hons) Interactive Media Design in the University of Hertfordshire. I am most fascinated by visual reportage, book illustration, and fashion illustration. Drawing, collage, painting, photography, found object, and art installation - are medium I feel comfortable with, and my choice of medium would always depend on it's relevance to a subject. Thematically, I am driven to mystical worlds of ghost stories, Eastern European folklore, as well as psychology of relationship, sexuality and beauty/ugliness. My other passion is theatrical mini performances - psychodramas. Using my body and fashion as tools of expression, I build atmospheric dreamlike and poetic worlds with the character telling a narrative through poetry or body language.
