About me
Kacper Hamilton (b. 1987 London, UK) is a British Designer and Creative Director based in London. He studied BA (Hons) Product Design at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in London, and completed a Masters in ‘Design for Luxury and Craftsmanship’ at ECAL, in Switzerland. Hamilton is a member of Council and is on the Young Members’ Committee at the Chelsea Arts Club, a private members club in the heart of Chelsea in London, established in 1891. Over the years, Kacper Hamilton has developed a unique style, which is inspired by narratives, traditions, and rituals. His interest spans the history, culture, and art of old, with a special fascination for places of worship and sacrosanct articles used therein for specific ceremonies. Hamilton's work draws from his intuitive drive to create modernity by bringing elements of the past into a contemporary context. The notion of storytelling plays a significant role in his creative process, as well as the aspiration to create timeless and mystical artefacts. Kacper Hamilton’s research-led multi-disciplinary practice varies from conceptual art/design, limited edition design, Crypto/Web3/NFT projects, product design, branding design, and installations as well as offering creative consultation services to brands and agencies. Hamilton’s studio focuses on the high-end and luxury art/design market. He has worked with a range of international companies including Clarks, Wallpaper* Handmade, Pernod Ricard, Ballantine’s Whisky, EGM Cigars, Merchant’s Heart, William Grant & Sons, Zai, and Baccarat Crystal. His work has been exhibited around the world including PAD London, Salon Art + Design New York, Frieze Art Fair New York, Victoria & Albert Museum, Li Edelkoort, Priveekollektie Contemporary Art | Design, Milan Design Week, Jerusalem Design Week, Cube Design Museum Netherlands, Design Shanghai and Shanghai Museum of Glass.

  • Bishop of Norwich
Bishop of NorwichInfluenced by and named after the classic tale of the ‘Bishop of Norwich’, a nineteenth-century gentleman notorious for forgetting to pass the port. This set brings about the return of humble rituals from the past through a drink that has become quintessentially British. With respect to the tradition, the ‘Bishop of Norwich’ has been specifically designed to encourage the user to drink their port and pass the decanter. Due to their elaborate design the port glasses and decanter cannot be put do
  • Mass of Time
Mass of Time‘Mass of Time’ is a conceptual instrument that weighs predefined periods of time using a set of scales and a sand timer. Kacper Hamilton was interested to investigate and challenge the perception and passing of time. This piece is about interpreting time as solid matter, something which can be handled and is physically present. Each machined aluminium weight presents a diagram of grams, seconds & minutes; allowing one to measure three, five or ten minutes. The ritual starts with a chosen weight
  • Temple
TempleThroughout time, ancient civilisations have built vast cities containing statues and sacred structures to proclaim the power and glory of the state. Temples were erected for prayer, ritual, and sacrifice, affording the people a place of worship as well as somewhere to interact with their deities, thus creating a link between the realms of the human and divine. The chandelier is composed of thirty-seven illuminated hand-blown glass elements, which sit in a precise, harmonious and sacred geometry
  • Higo - Zai
Higo - ZaiKacper Hamilton has designed a collection of tools influenced by the traditional Japanese ‘Higonokami’ for the Swiss ski company zai. Native to Japan, Higonokami is a folding pocket knife described as a ‘living fossil’ within the world of knives due to its unchanged design and production technique since its creation in the late 19th century. Taking inspiration from this legendary Japanese knife, the ‘HIGO’ tools designed by Hamilton follow the same ideology as the Higonokami; keeping their func
  • Core Axe - Zai
Core Axe - ZaiThe Core Axe consists of a helve and two interchangeable heads. The straight shaft helve is made from a sandwich of carbon fibre zaiìra® and ash wood. The layering construction is inspired by zai’s process and philosophy of making skis using raw and contrasting materials in Disentis, Switzerland. Carbon fibre zaiìra® is used to provide strength whilst the ash wood forms a protective shell around the core and pays homage to the heritage of a traditional axe. The form of the helve has been refine
