About me
Kara Chin is a British artist, born in Singapore and raised in the UK. Her Practice spans across animation, sculpture, painting, sound, cooking and horticulture, to create multimedia installations concerning evolving theories of reality and simulation, future technologies, and expanded perspectives. Kara is currently a member of the Newbridge collective Studio 2019/2020, having just completed the 2018 Woon Prize residency hosted by Northumbria University and BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art. This Year Kara's work has featured in Bloomberg New Contemporaries 2018 at South London Gallery, where she also hosted two Sunday Spot Sessions; at London Art fair with IMT Gallery; in the launch of FOLD(Lab) at their exhibition, 'Up is a Relative Concept'; and finally in her solo show 'Sentient Home Devices' at Gallery North, Newcastle.

    Duveen Travel ScholarshipSlade School of Fine Art
    A travel bursary offered to graduating students of Slade School of Fine Art, for development and research. I was able to travel to Japan for 2 months to research traditional japanese crafts, with particular focus on ceramics and joinery, in Feb/March 2019.
