About me
My motto is “Art with Bio tag”. Bio – life (from Greek Bios). It is a play with a sign, which signifies product quality and creator’s careful attitude to humans, nature and its rhythms. I have a higher professional artistic education and a diploma of Latvian Art Academy, department of monumental painting (2007). Additionally, my studies include afresco and sgraffito painting techniques at the Art Institute of Florence, Italy. I have enjoyed membership of the Artist's Union of Latvia since 2007 and held more than 20 solo exhibitions in Riga, Jūrmala, Valmiera and other Latvian cities and towns. I also take part on a regular basis in group exhibitions in Latvia, as well as in art projects of an international significance. I represented Latvian art at the international conference “Baltic Connecting” (2019) and since 2018, head my own “Karine Paronyanc Art Studio”. I stay true to traditional painting techniques, deliberately avoiding the use of digital auxiliary techniques. In addition to standard canvas and oils, I often use mixed author’s techniques. I use dry pastel chalk, natural charcoal, gold leaf, interspersed collage. My paintings are very tactile, the roughness of the canvas itself and the variety of oil textures, contrasts of matted and lacquered textures, the patina effect are all of great importance. Therefore, I carry out the preparation, stretching and priming of the canvas only by hand and exclusively according to the author's recipes. These canvases literally keep the warmth of their creator’s hands. The main themes of my art are Cosmos, Absolute, laws and rhythms of nature, the Sun and its energy, fertility. My approach is to talk with a viewer in the language of metaphors, legends, symbols touching upon deep layers of genetic memories and the collective unconscious.
