On this course I have chosen the History & Culture pathway. We develop our skills in conducting primary research, while developing our knowledge of prominent theorists to be able to use for our secondary. Within the course, we undertake a collaborative unit where we work with industry partners in order to support our personal and professional development. Our final thesis is 17,000 words, so the course progressively teaches us to write longer essays, while harnessing the skills to critique and pay great attention to detail in our writing.
This course was initially broad, allowing us to chose between design and image and communication. We developed our practical skills in using computer softwares such as Google Sketchup and Adobe. We also had the opportunity to collaborate with other students to work on personal projects and develop our own portfolios. I found my strengths in styling, visual merchandising and publication design.
This course allowed us to try a range of disciplines in order to harness an area that we demonstrated talent in to pursue. As well as the practical, we did cultural studies to compliment out physical outcomes.
