About me

Kassy Cho is an Audience Development Editor at BuzzFeed News who is pioneering strategies and formats for breaking, reporting, and delivering news on and using Instagram. She single-handedly runs the BuzzFeed @world Instagram, the fastest growing news account on Instagram. After she took over @world, the account grew more than 1,500% from 50,000 followers to more than 750,000 followers in just over a year. @world has an unprecedented percentage of followers under the age of 18 for a news account on Instagram and 80% of followers speak another language other than English. The account was named the best news site on Instagram by EzyInsights, beating out the Guardian in second place and BBC News in third place. Kassy oversee the strategy as well as creates every single piece of content on @world, which involves a combination of curation, original reporting, show and video development, direction, editing, production, and social distribution. Her work on @world led to her partnership with Instagram for International Women’s Day 2019. She is also known for her reporting on tech and online culture in Asia Pacific, popularising Chinese memes such as “Karma’s a bitch” and the Four Generations challenge in the West.
