Hi, my name is kate! I graduated from Camberwell College of Art in July this year with a 1st class degree in Graphic Design. During my final year I primarily focused on photography and illustration, designing and making a sequence of handmade books, inspired by independent magazines. Photography and illustration, book and magazine design and forms of storytelling and portraiture are not only a passion for me but are also my primary medium as an artist and designer. I am now looking to further develop the skills I have learned in my degree and in my own independent projects by joining a new creative team.Locked Pro Plan feature
Throughout studying and since graduating I have worked as a freelance designer taking commissions of mainly illustration, photography and printmaking based briefs.
A fantastic oppurtunity where I was able to surround myself with Artists and photographers work that I am extremely inspired by. My time at the gallery was spent working on the back end of the website creating weekly promotions for new artists, artworks, news and offers as well as creating the weekly newsletter and liassing with clients on a daily basis.
After watching a documentary about Bonnington Square, London in the 1980's I started to create a documentary of my own. After contacting Anna Odrich who appeared in the film, I began to work with her to create a book that represented not only her life, but the life of her once squatted home in Bonnington Square. This project documents how Anna’s home has become a true portrait of herself, with photographs from Anna’s archive in the 1980’s to my own photographs which show the house as it is now.
I worked part-time at Max&Melia, an independent boutique selling unusual and artistic gifts and homewares as a visual merchandiser whilst studying at university. I quickly took on the role of organising how the shop was styled and laid out. I organised new stock as it came in and arranged the shop and window displays to suit the theme and trend of each season.
