About me
I am an illustrator, printmaker and crafts person who works mainly in ink, charcoal, pencil and gouache, however I regularly turn my hand to 3D work, lino printing, and free stitch illustration. One of my strengths is my love of research, I work very heavily in sketchbooks, which travel everywhere with me. Recurrent themes within my work are natural history, museum collections and mental health issues. Having a family background in the fine wine trade means I’ve grown up with an interest in the art of wine labels. More recently my interest has turned to the area of children's book illustration, with particular emphasis on the important subject of children's mental health.
Projects
  • 'A Sense of Place'
'A Sense of Place''A Sense of Place' A series of images created inspired by trips to Manchester Museum and Edinburgh's Surgeon's Hall. I initially produced a series of illustrations using black ink and charcoal which went on to inspire me to create a 3-Dimensional 'Shadow Box'. The 'Shadow Box' not only acts a vessel to house my illustrations but furthermore evokes Victorian 'cabinets of curiosity.'
  • 'Bee Quiet'
'Bee Quiet''Bee Quiet' Images taken from 'Bee Quiet', a children's picture book designed to help children struggling with social anxiety/ speech difficulties find their voice.
