About me

Hi I'm Kate, I'm an experienced freelance Graphic Designer. I have 2-3 years experience in graphics and visual design, specialising in print design, infographics and packaging design, however I am not limited to these areas. I have created illustrations for games, worked in branding, created logo's and even designed 3d game assets. I am always learning, I read everything I can and take every course possible to advance myself and keep pushing the limits on what I can achieve. I adore layout work and appreciate the art in this type of design. I came to graphics following a career change from Accounting, after a few years working for finance within big business I learnt that I made a terrible accountant, but my spreadsheets looked amazing and presenting information became a bit of a specialty. This has given me greater commercial awareness of the use of design within the retail sector, I appreciate there is a purpose to design beyond stunning aesthetics. Beyond work I have two young sons who keep me on my toes, and I enjoy sports of all kinds especially bouldering and hockey. I am a big Red Sox baseball fan and love baking.   Lango Learning AppThe Brief: Research and design an app for an IOS operating system which allows a user to learn new vocabulary for a language they are unfamiliar with. Deliverables: A low - mid fidelity prototype with onboarding, the ability to add, personalise and categorise new vocabulary for the chosen language. The ability to test the user on the new vocabulary, track and incentivise learning.

  Layout designThe Brief: Design a magazine and example layout for Urban Loft & Gardens magazine. It must include 3 example articles within the scope of lofts and gardens. It must embody luxury, quality and be aimed at the top end of the market. The internal layout is free rein. The double page spread is intended to mirror the city element of the article content. The images were chosen for their architectural elements and the type set in a way to imitate a city skyline.
