With over 5 years of experience within the Fabric Buying department at Karen Millen, I have a thorough knowledge of fabric, colour and print development, fabric testing, critical path management and negotiation skills, as well as contacts with many European mills and agents.
•Send out artwork, lab dips and developments. •Manage the print production schedule, monitoring the development from CAD to strike off to bulk production. •Raise and send purchase orders to fabric mills/agents. •Ensure correct care instructions are on the purchase order for the trims team. •Monitor, request and receive submits of bulk fabrics for approval. •Liaise with Design for approval for all bulk fabric and developments. •Ensure quality is consistent throughout orders and batches. •Request and check base and bulk test reports for all fabric, arranging additional tests if needed. •Arrange delivery of bulk fabric from the mill to our warehouses and process shipping paperwork accordingly. •Process and log all invoices for bulk fabric, sampling fabric, freight costs and testing. •Review the buy docs/range plan each week and update tracking sheets. •Monitor stock levels and any excess fabrics left over from collections. •Analyse fabric purchase information for each season and create a ‘Top Ten’ report, highlighting leading suppliers and changes since the last season. •Complete a monthly SWOT report to analyse the current fabric stock value in the business and send to Production Management. •Attend tracking meetings. •Report to the Fabric Manager, and manage the Fabric & Trims Admin Assistant. •Assist with fabric descriptions for the Style File
