About me

Katie’s expertise in project and event management derives from her ten years experience in the hospitality sector. With over half of this dedicated to the luxury market, Katie has an acute understanding of the demands of VIP clients and how to plan and execute a seamless, professional event. Key skills include leadership, training, organisation, negotiation, budgeting, operation management and communications. Katie thrives on the demands of managing people and projects, and applies herself with dedication to each and every project, working tirelessly to achieve the perfect event for her clients. In addition to her professional life, Katie is focused on developing both her educational and business acumen. She is currently in her last year of a six-year Open University course, reading for a degree in Criminology and Psychology BA (Hons). The last two modules, which should be unrelated to the degree subject, will cover finance and entrepreneurial opportunities. Katie enjoys the opportunities that learning and extra-curricular study have to offer. As such, she has embraced the opportunity to undertake courses in music, journalism and interior design. Securing new clientele through the production and development of event concepts and proposals. Overseeing events for over 500 delegates, and analysing results in order to grow the business. Working with the Commercial Director to produce and monitor effective sales strategies and budgets. Liaising with other heads of department on company-wide decisions and initiatives. Sourcing, recruiting and training new team members. Holding appraisals and generating performance targets for existing team members.

  • Managing a team of ten staff, to ensure the successful running of the front desk at a luxury 4* hotel. As well being in a customer-facing role, managerial duties included recruitment, team rotas, appraisals, incentives and complaints. In the absence of the Operations Manager, responsibilities included duty manager shifts and overseeing the running of each department. I also devised and implemented a training programme for all departments, including senior management, after I was awarded ‘Receptionist of the Year’ in a nationwide training scheme run by Folio Hotels.
