My first and foremost love has always been for writing, getting just as excited over a short but sweet 140 character tweet, as a luxuriously lengthy blog post. In the past, I have written a wide range of website, marketing and social media copy on a variety of subjects; from fashion to food and films to fire-eating. A veritable copy chameleon, I am able to effortlessly adjust my style for different channels and audiences, whatever the needs of the brief. Additionally, I have a good knowledge of SEO and social media management, making my skillset ideal for a role in content creation or digital marketing.I relish the opportunity to challenge myself and think creatively to produce new ideas and approaches to my work.
One of the most well known and iconic department stores in the world, the Harrods brand and tone of voice has to embody luxury in every sense of the word. I was responsible for both editing prewritten content and crafting copy from scratch, in a vast variety of mediums. Working as a small team in a large creative department, it has given me a good grounding in writing for Marketing and PR, Internal Communications and Customer Relationship Management purposes. A varied and certainly challenging position, this has helped solidify my skillset at a very corporate level.
ZRA is an alternative event hire company that specializes in Burlesque and Circus entertainment. I am in charge of maintaining and updating the entire website’s content, producing exciting and well written copy to boost the company’s exposure and gain new business through SEO. Additionally producing content to be shared over social media channels, I updated the ZRA blog every week with themed, seasonal posts and reviews from shows, performances and festivals. Exciting and diverse, this requires a level of independence, responsibility and efficiency that can be applied in any role.
Following the end of my 3 month contract, Evolution Arts employed me as a freelancer to manage the brand's social media presence, update content across the website and continue to implement digital marketing strategies.
Evolution Arts is a Brighton based natural health, arts and wellbeing centre and registered Charity that strives for creativity, inspiration and personal development. As part of the Wired Sussex Intern Programme, I was hired to implement new strategies for SEO, Social Media, blog posting and newsletter campaigns. My role includes : 1) Establishing SEO key words and phrases and evaluating these findings with Google Analytics. 2) Researching and writing engaging social media content, blog posts, and website copy. 3) Working closely with a Freelance Marketing Consultant to boost sales and maximize online presence, This position has given me a wider range of Digital Marketing skills and industry experience as well as supplementing my copywriting and content producing.
My role involved researching brands and producing SEO-rich content for a ‘social sartorial platform’,essentially Twitter for the fashion industry. Altering my writing style to capture the tone and voice of individual brands is key as the content ranges from high street to high-end. With tight and demanding deadlines to meet, I have to be highly organised, motivated and work well under pressure. Keeping track of targets through excellent time management, I am able to produce on average 5500 words of well-researched and engaging copy per day, personally responsible for more than 250,000 words over the course of four months.
