A 2016 Fashion Graduate from Herot-Watt University, I am seeking an exciting position within a diverse and challenging design team.
Returned to work with Graeme Black and the team at Edinburgh International Fashion Festival 2014. 1436 were opening the festival with a fashion show and I was invited back to assist with the event.
Worked closely with Graeme Black, the creative director of luxury cashmere brand 1436 Erdos during my summer. Assisting with jobs such as collection research, sample sourcing and assisting with the styling for the SS14 campaign shoot.
Gained invaluable experience in an active working environment during a short week long student placement. Sampling various departments daily I was able to gain an understanding of how a highly professional workplace operates. During my placement I spent time with Mearns & Gill, an integrated marketing communications company. Whilst there I was given the change to observe and interact with the print and web design departments.
With my degree centred around becoming a successful designer within industry, I am leaving university with the essential skills to enter a company as a junior designer. Focusing strongly on 2D to 3D realisation, I have been prepared with the knowledge to see designs from research through to realisation. This paired with essential business projects and trend analysis allows for a broad range of skills which are imperative for an entry level designer.
Graduate portfolio gained a nomination for the Karen Millen Portfolio Award at Graduate Fashion Week 2016. https://issuu.com/katymacdonald/docs/graduate_portfolio_/1
