Arriving from Australia in late 2014 with a UK Ancestry Visa, I am an organised and creative professional with more than two years public relations, journalism and freelance writing experience. I have strong written and verbal communication skills as well as a nose for news.
After volunteering as an intern at West End Magazine in early 2012, I was quickly offered paid work as a contributor and in-house writer. The editor also assigned me stories for Queensland Magazine’s Highlife Downs Living. During my time working in-house I would write promotional copy, sub edit features articles and create social media posts. I was a regular contributor for the print and online magazine as well as West End Magazine's Music Blogger.
I began with ZigZag PR as a freelance writer before I was offered a position as a PR Coordinator in November 2012 and a PR Consultant in August 2013. My duties included account management, writing public relations strategies, media releases, proposals, social media, copywriting and working creatively alongside the advertising, marketing and design teams. While working at the agency I played a key role in the QBD Book Hipster campaign, which was named a finalist in the 2014 PR Daily Awards. The campaign received media coverage internationally and across a range of capital city publications within Australia.
I began working with Parkin PR immediately after graduation. I worked closely under Principal Donna Parkin’s direction to achieve campaign results for a range of clients and projects in the tourism and hospitality industry. My duties included, but were not limited to, generating media coverage, writing media releases, media monitoring, writing reports and plans, liaising with journalists, market research, creating media familiarity invitations and itineraries and assisted hosting a media familiarity in Fiji.
