Currently at The Day Job, I work with award-winning producers, booking and assisting their sessions, working with a number of major record labels, artists and engineers during the record making process to help them deliver a finished product. Duties: Maximise the efficiency of session bookings across multiple calendars, rates, and contracts. Establish and maintain professional relationships with high profile clients via meetings and ongoing communication. Exercise strong product knowledge and best technical practices to meet client requirements.
Here I worked closely with the production team and presenter Gemma Cairney for The Surgery. As part of Gemma's team, I would take listeners calls and comments during the live show, constantly looking for people who fit the specifications of what we were looking for, deciding who would be best suitable, and then handing them over to the producer.
While I worked with app WeHive at Liverpool’s Sound City, my input ranged from operating and setting up various recording equipment to encompassing directorial and technical skills, dealing with all the practical and political aspects of keeping the project running smoothly doing so with a comprehensive knowledge of both the festival and the artists we were interviewing, serving to show and understanding of what is important to their audience and ours. Duties: seeking a broad variety of artists and contributors for interviews the WeHive app. Advises on and secure appropriate interviewees and guests, as well as preparing research and background briefings for our presenters and programme teams. Working closely with the rest of the production team, overseeing each project from conception to completion and subsequently aid in the marketing and distribution process.
Working my way up from interning to this role, I project managed sessions for several Senior Mastering Engineers. Under tutelage, I edit the audio files, master the audio, burn both CD references and masters, QA the master CDs, cut the lacquer for the vinyl masters, and prepare the finished products and ship them to mastering plants. Duties: Act as the liaison for Metropolis Studios, Artist Management, and A&R to ensure productive and successful mastering sessions. Updating and maintaining client accounts to ensure invoices are settled in a timely matter. Ensure monthly targets are met through regular senior management team meetings.
Planning & organising all practical aspects of the Studios’ live music event, Metropolis Sessions i.e. catering, audio visual, room set up, car parking, security & cleaning. Duties: Developing, organising, planning and promoting a range of large scale events. Reviewing and sourcing the locations where the event is to be held. Creating promotional material for the event & distributing it to the target audience. Arrange security and advise on health and safety issues. Ensuring adequate staff are available for the event. Assisting with direct marketing initiatives and promotional activities. Maintaining an inventory of facility & equipment used.
During my short stint working for BRIT Award winner Kate Nash, my role was to promote her upcoming gig for Shepherd's Bush. I did so using both physical and digital marketing methods including postering areas relevant to market analysis, creating buzz on social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and Instagram, activating the Kate Nash fan base and increasing virality of her latest videos from Kate's new album Girl Talk; this was to reach a wider audience, which was critical.
