An enthusiastic and personable individual with a great love of art. After graduating with a degree in creative advertising in 2014 I have decided to pursue a career in the commercial art world and have since worked in many creative roles across galleries, design agencies and as a freelancer. I found that nothing within these fields rivalled the deep passion I felt for art alone. I am currently looking for a new opportunity to combine my knowledge and interpersonal skills within a art setting.
Assisting with the day to day running of a gallery spread across two locations running two separate yet simultaneous exhibitions that change every two weeks. I am well versed in handling, packing and unpacking delicate artwork, curating and organising the layout of the gallery space. Often working as a team throughout the installation process and preparing the space for private openings. My role includes hosting exclusive opening events and mingling with the artists and clientèle. As front of house for the gallery it is critical that my knowledge is always up to speed and in-depth enabling me to assist members of the public during normal opening hours and aid in artist working relationships. Throughout the week I research and contact emerging artists to discuss exhibiting opportunities for both group and solo shows, maintain the gallery space, co-ordinated price lists and PR material. Promote artists across social media and listing our upcoming events with the relevant companies/mail outs.
While the gallery is know for it's permanent collection there is a smaller exhibit space which changes regularly and aims to make art more accessible to young people in the area. Every few months we ran an event relevant to the exhibit including a night with Bob & Roberta Smith, performances of poets, interactive workshops and a demonstration from a local print press company. The role involved much event co-ordination and management, knowledge of exhibitions and revelation connections. Installation and handling of artwork created by young people. Knowledge of the Arts & Crafts movement. Researching performers, poets and out of house companies to exhibit or give demonstrations and PR work.
Worked at two major annual D&AD events; the New Blood Festival and the Professional Awards Judging Week. Both of which are very large scale exhibitions showcasing work from graphics, advertising and illustration including high end work. During this time I worked on a range of duties such as the installation and handling of work, event management and co-ordination and social media coverage. I represented the company at multiple prestigious events held across London including launch parties, workshops and award shows building a repertoire with press and highly esteemed professionals.
