About me
Hello, I'm Kira, this is a little introduction into what I like and what I do. I'm in my second year at Falmouth University studying BA (hons) Graphic Design. I was born and bred in Somerset where I would spend all my time outdoors. My passion lies between Graphic Design and Illustration, with quite a bit of photography thrown in. Other interests involves giraffes, exploring and anything with stripes.
Projects
  • Deforestation
DeforestationDeforestation - a hand lettered cross section of a tree telling a tale.
  • Porridge Project
Porridge ProjectBrief: Brand Values - to create a set of brand values describing yourself as a person. To deliver the values through an object or piece of design. Brand Values: Methodical Grounded Honest Determined Homely Thoughtful Answer: A bowl of porridge. Representing the set of six values describing myself. The porridge methodically made and prepared, the topping nuts to metaphorically represent grounded, a raw, honest food. Warm comfort food is what reminds me of home, porridge being perfect, an energy fuelled breakfast keeping me determined through-out the day.
  • Real Cornwall
Real CornwallBrief: To capture the true essence of 'The Real Cornwall' through photography. Having a story behind the audience. Answer: 'Nutty Noah'/ Martin Ellis. A Cornish fisherman of 40 years. Also, a part time ''Artist, Writer, Musician and Taxi Driver.'' A split personality and a well-known figure in the village. The day I spotted and spoke to Martin, I definitely caught him on a 'Nutty Noah' day.
  • Narrative Project - '16.08.04'
Narrative Project - '16.08.04''16.08.04' is a book based on my lucky escape from a news headline flood at Boscastle, Cornwall. A 8 years old I was very naïve to the situation that was happening just down the road, I was hidden from the extent of the chaos. Therefore nearly everything about this book has statistics of the event hidden through out. Tiny details from the point size, book size, placement of text to removal of elements.
  • Museum of Ideas
Museum of IdeasBrief: Part of the 'Consumerism' Module. To address the creative possibilities that might arise if you where charged with the task of designing for a new Museum that will focus entirely on 'Ideas'. Generate a visual look and feel for the proposed Museum, including an appropriate identity and branding applications, promotional material and exhibit layouts. Encourage people to visit, return, inspire and empower. Solution: The Museum of Ideas is based around the Evolution of the Pen. The Pen is seen as the 'creatives' second hand, a powerful and revolutionary concept where all ideas originate from. The Museum identitfies the 'pen of the era' through a handwritten style on each floor. The inventions which were created in this era are placed on the relevant floor. The exhibition pieces on the floors will show the evolution, problems and solutions through the idea of the inventor. Slowly moving upwards through the building you will move through time. Reaching the top, the 'future floor' is on the 8th level. This is where the visitor can have their impact on time. Adding ideas, replying to others and communicating through writing and drawing on the blank space given. Creating a new era and making 'your own mark'.
  • War of the Words Publication
War of the Words PublicationBrief: Part of a Typography Module. Design & create the publication for the lecture event 'War of the Words', hosted by the Design Talks. Solution: Create an editorial-like publication that is accessible to the general public as well as professionals. To consider the themes of Modernism and Postmodernism.
