I studied BSc Product Design at Brunel University London, where I developed an understanding of the Design Process and how I can incorporate all my skills in Mechanics, Electronics, Sketching and Ideation to witness products come to life. I enjoy all aspects of design and use my personality and interaction skills to improve client relationships. I excel in ideation of products as I am constantly producing new designs and concepts that intend to solve issues through products. I have an interest in UX design and have strong graphic design skills that allow me to communicate my designs effectively.
During my 1 year placement at LUMA Industrial Design, I had the opportunity to work on a huge range of projects and develop my knowledge of a small business and the ins and outs of a design consultancy. I oversaw projects from start to finish, working with a small team of designers to deliver solutions for our clients. Whilst at LUMA I edited the company website, learning to use Wordpress from scratch, worked on several medical products, including working with nurses to develop a product to help district nurses. An important aspect of my job was to research and develop initial ideas, through sketches and prototyping development, where I would create rough and ready models to implement our ideas. This stage also allowed me to obtain a greater understanding of 3D Printing, as I would regularly use our in-house FDM printer and work with local SLA/ SLS 3D Printing companies.
I began my first experience at Glysure Ltd, following the stages of patents for the development of new products and technology. I was also trained in quality control of PCB’s, where I developed an attention to detail and a further understanding of electronic components. My last project involved me developing current designs and pitching new concepts to the American market. Here I was able to have direct meetings with Medical staff and designers in America to make Glysure’s products suitable for the mass market internationally. I was able to see all stages of the design process, from the research of current products and market to design development and eventually manufacture.
