My role as a Junior Reporter expands over the company’s numerous outlets, including monthly magazine PME, news website pmlive.com, bi-annual magazine issues Communiqué and The Directory and the Group’s award ceremonies PMEA, Communiqué and Quality in Care (QiC). In my position, I write and upload multiple stories a day using our CMS, edit and commission freelancer work, solely run the website and all social media outlets including Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn, use Photoshop on a daily basis, aid the design team in forming magazine pages on InDesign, work with Google Analytics and cooperate with PR agencies. I also write news stories and features for PME every month, ranging from 300 to 2000 words. I have additionally been chosen and trusted to attend conferences both in the UK and abroad, including visiting the headquarters of one of the world’s leading medical companies to interview members of its board. I was first selected to attend a conference abroad after just three months in the role.
I post three times a week on my eponymous beauty and lifestyle blog, with content ranging from reviews, tutorials, comical lists and recipes. Being in control of my own platform has enabled me to learn the importance of digital presence by utilising social media and SEO to generate traffic, equating to thousands of views. Building a network and immersing myself in the blogging community has aided me in creating reliable contacts and relationships, leading me to work with brands including Benefit Cosmetics and La Roche Posay. My photography knowledge and skills have also evolved as all images used on my website have been taken by myself. I am currently planning to launch a YouTube channel to expand my online presence alongside my blog.
