My role here has been spent within a wonderful (and pretty incredible) marketing team. Supporting them on their individual projects; social, website, content planning, PR and local marketing by taking each channel under review, making objective but informed suggestions to improve and connect the streams to incorporate one singular customer view. Responsible for the development of the LEON app to improve customer loyalty, repeat transactions and value from proposal to fruition. And integrating all data streams from the aforementioned channels into one CRM system that LEON can take and develop beyond my time, to grow their marketing as fast as their brand.
My time here was spent within the Retail Marketing team. Supporting by taking on 'Project Berlin', a pretty massive task project managing the production of printed communications required by stores for all closing, newly refurbished and opening Currys, PC World and Carphone Warehouse sites across the UK. All with the main objective to ensure customer communication and understanding was clear and new store openings were given the prominence they deserved. "Kirsty joined the team as a freelancer working on a very challenging project. Kirsty was a great addition to our team and demonstrated excellent project management skills as well as a keen understanding of how to meet rapidly changing objectives and deadlines. KEY ACHIEVEMENTS: - Providing the majority of our board members with one to one skills sessions in LinkedIn, to boost our brand from the very top. - Owned, curated and built an internal monthly newsletter detailing good news, client stories, insider info and upcoming conferences and events to be communicated to the agency. - Developed, filmed and edited a series of short films to support social activity.

KEY SKILLS: Direct Mail and Email production, Press Advertising, CRM, Microsite build DAY TO DAY: - My team grew fast, and more focus was given to longer term strategies and planning for Sky Movies, Sky Broadband and Sky Online customers. Putting every brief through its paces and really understanding the journeys that led to the purchase of these packages. - My involvement here saw me seek outside partnerships such as MoveableInk and Blippar to learn how we could improve the capabilities of our everyday communications and to stay ahead of new developments as they happen. - I also helped coordinate a strong and detailed competitor tracking and campaign review process which was eventually rolled out across the team and other clients in the agency. Key findings are shared monthly with the team, included at all briefings and always presented back to clients. - Supporting financially, by pulling weekly budget reconciliations and updating monthly forecasts. KEY ACHIEVEMENTS: - Finally pressing send when sharing creative, for a particularly important and very technical Email build to help celebrate the launch of Frozen on Sky Movies Disney at Christmas. Working with MoveableInk to create a variable GIF file, which was also personalised to show the customers' name upon receipt.
Through this course I was given the chance to learn more about the advertising world around me, than I ever expected. Having always been an extremely curious mind and constantly wanting to know what goes on behind the scenes (flashback to SMTV Live days!), a prospect unlikely ever to be satisfied, has intrigued myself further into this industry. It is easy to make generic statements such as "advertising is all around us" but my course helped me truly understand the true context behind this statement. From units where I studied the history of advertising and its deep theoretical roots to being put into makeshift agencies, and given the role of account planner and suddenly pitching for business. Having let go of my course and found my path into industry I am so thankful I have this background and know it will help me infinitely more than I ever expected as a wee undergrad.
