Marketing and Communications Specialist for GenD at Discovery: About genD : “A network for talents in their early part of their career at Discovery, bridging the gap between business functions, aiming to create a culture of ‘One Discovery’. Send inspires, encourages and unlocks opportunities for its members to have an impact on Discovery outside of their everyday work” Roles: -Work with the team to brainstorm new ideas to engage employees with the Discovery culture. - Co-manage events and create all the comms material that goes out to the whole London office. - We are currently working on an event that gives employees the opportunity to pitch ideas that will add value to the business to some of Discovery’s SVP’s who will help implement the winning ideas.
Social: - Lead weekly social and marketing meetings for the Product Development and Innovation Team. - Manage and create social media strategies for YourDiscoveryScience Instagram, Facebook and YouTube pages. - Create content for the social channels, monitor fan engagement and insights to understand audiences and write up detailed reports. - Work with the creative teams to develop VR and 360 content for social, most recently we filmed a 360 parachute jump to celebrate World Science Day for our YourDiscoveryScience Facebook page. Campaign Management: -Lead with the Product Development and Innovation Team's stunt campaigns across all key channels and host weekly status meetings with the rest of the team. -Work alongside the Brand Manager to develop a unique look and feel of each campaign and help to manage the design process of all assets of the toolkit. For example World Science Day & Asteroid Day held annually on Discovery Science and I Love My Car held annually on Channel DTX. -Work with the regional teams to ensure campaigns meet their diverse cultural requirements, from CEE to the Middle East. - Take lead on the digital marketing of campaigns and manage budgets, as well as create briefs, and manage designers and interns
My role had two tasks split between two Marketing teams for Discovery CEEMEA (Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa) : - To support and assist the B2B and B2C marketing team for the flagship Discovery Network CEEMEA channels, falling under the factual, lifestyle and sports programming genres. - To support and assist the West & EMEA Marketing and Product Development Team with brand and marketing campaigns for channels on the pan-‐feed. Other roles: - Managed the ‘Your Discovery Science’ Facebook, Snapchat and Instagram pages, developed creative digital strategies and campaigns to boost engagement and promote on-air viewership, created all of the branded content. During my time here I increased the likes by 735%. - Worked with the digital and marketing teams that support a large portfolio of brands in a variety of markets to achieve objectives, increase viewership and revenue for the global company. - I achieved the senior management channel objective by lowering the average age of brand awareness from males aged over 50 to males aged 18-‐25 with the use of social media in just a year.
- The first point of contact for press enquirers and managed the companies press statements. - Wrote weekly press releases, designed the company’s brochures and organised PR campaigns. - Posted on Twitter, the blog, website and intranet page several times a day.
