Koby Martin is a Ghanaian born visual artist currently based in England. Having
spent a greater part of his teenage years dealing with nay sayers and wet
blankets who didn’t think Koby deserved a chance at higher education regardless
of being exceptionally gifted in painting, it will be his low grades in Maths and
Science that will eventually prevent his from going to any University in Ghana.
Koby found luck when Coventry University thought otherwise and enrolled the
young genius on a foundation course through which he excelled with a degree in
Art and Design and a Masters in 3d Illustration and Animation.
Koby’s signature is his distinctive use of vibrant colours which reflects his
spontaneous personality as well as his ability to work in both traditional and
digital mediums which can be seen on outstanding works and commissions such
as the artwork for Hip-hop duo Krept & Konan’ debut album ‘The Long Way
Home’ through Virgin Records.
Koby later went on to design a special edition front and back cover for Music
Week, curate joint exhibitions with Adidas, work on animation campaigns for the
African Footballers In Europe Awards, collaboration with Mercedes Benz for
their Smart Car campaign and is currently the brainchild behind the creative
direction and art content for Disturbing London: home of Tinie Tempah and
Wizkid.
Koby has been featured in multiple exhibitions nationwide. His first and
sophomore exhibition entitled ‘How It Was’ and ‘Boy In The Field’ both
highlighted his God given gift as well as his upbringing in Ghana and struggles in
the UK respectively. Currently working on his best body of work yet, Koby is
gearing up for his third solo exhibition: ‘ASIAMAH’ which is also Koby’s family
name and is a visual tribute to his father this September. .
