Projects
- The Story HuntWhen people travel they sometimes seek out romantic visions of a place. They look to escape from mundane tourist activities. For example, by avoiding popular tourist attractions in favour of authentic experiences. The “Story Hunt” is an experimental approach to travel in the islands, based on collecting islanders’ stories from the islanders themselves. Participants can design their own journey by following their personal interests to discover a more in depth experience of local life. Here, the islanders and the travellers will communicate by sharing stories, historical and cultural facts, tales, and legends. Stories from the Hebrides reflect the spirit of the inhabitants and its places, as well as their history and culture. Storytelling allows people to recognise, strengthen and create a strong place-based identity that inhabitants and travellers can relate to. Furthermore, it allows individual interpretations and can trigger the imagination as part of the “sense-making” process. Combining all of these possibilities, our ultimate aim is for travellers to experience a pure sense of Hebridean life through authentic interactions with the islanders.
- Empathy“Empathy” is a 3D printed sound shell. The project aim is to stimulate thoughts and considerations about topics such as violence, abuse, mobbing, and bullying. This is possible through sounds, generated by translating the frequencies of shapes and colors from artworks inspired by paintings of selected artists - artists who suffered from abuses and expressed their pain on canvas. The project has been designed as a tool to be used by educative insitutions and in a medical - psychological environment.
