About me
I am a research-led, multidisciplinary designer who focuses on tackling difficult topics and visualising obscure subject matter to create discussions within a larger audience. I like to work with a variety of process and materials giving me the ability to experiment with different techniques from screen print, to publications and 3D sculpture. I have an insatiable appetite for digging into research to help understand a topic, I feel research is a big part to creating an all around project. Take a look on my behance for some of the latest design projects I have created;
Projects
  • SHU Fashion Graduate Look Book
    SHU Fashion Graduate Look BookWithin a small group we were asked to design and curate the final look book for 3rd year fashion students, to be used both at graduate fashion week and to advertise the course in future exhibit, open days at the university. To begin with we spoke with fashion tutors with what they wanted to with creating fun book which displays the students work in a different and amazing way. It was a fun activity with being a real client and being used in a commercial way, we had a small budget and a large number wanted.  This was a fun but tasking job has helped me develop further with my communications, publication skills. As well as learning about the mass printing process within a real printing company, which I found so interesting. Overall this project was really good and got me to work within a project based on the aesthetic rather then the meaning.

  • All About Gin
    All About GinWithin a group of three, we found a common interest of gin and decided to look into the idea around gin and how it has changed perceptions over the years, with this new popularity forming over the past few years. After researching many aspects from history to now, the productions and what goes into the drink to make it gin.  We decided we wanted to find a way to present all our research in an engaging and different way. Links started to form with the idea of us being a group of 3, there is three letters in the word gin and there were three strong research areas, with the history, the distilling process and the botanicals within the production of gin.  So we created a sculpture, using three different process and three didn’t materials. The power of three shines through the whole of this project. We each took  on a letter each and helping one another along the way. My main focus was the g, and showing the ever complex history of gin within our country. I used a transfer process to apply the imagery onto the handmade wooden shape. Around the curve I added a timeline from the 1600’s to now showcasing the process of it becoming a staple drink within the UK.

    Working within retail for over 4 years has given me the chance to grow into a confident and approachable person, understanding the needs of a customer as well as the commercial requirements of a business. Multitasking was an essential requirement in retail, and also a skill which equipped me to create my final work within my 3rd year, this enabled me to effectively allocate my time to 4-5 projects at once.
