I am currently temping with the Guardian’s Marketing division, undertaking administrative I.T duties. I also have had the opportunity to attend daily editorial briefings, where editors come together to discuss their top headlines for the day as well as upcoming pieces and ideas. This has developed a great understanding of the running of a newsroom and its editorial department.
I created weekly newsletters using Mail Chimp, which were aimed at families with young children it involved researching and writing about activities to do in the local area that would appeal to parents. This internship was completed from home, which I feel highlights my self-motivation and initiative.
• Website copy, inventory management and product descriptions. • Managing the brand’s social media platforms by creating content and writing the post copy throughout the week according to the new collections, promotions, and events. • Creating mailshot copy and designing newsletters, which cover new collections and promotions, which are sent out to our subscribers. • General admin, including booking and organizing courier collections, filing and stock management. • Head of Customer & PR enquiries; answering both telephone and email queries.
After graduating from university, I wanted to gain experience in a publishing house. Across the 3 months I proof read academic text, created, and modified indexes for texts using InDesign and edited website pages using basic HTML knowledge.
