I have been a journalist since 2000 and I am known for my expertise in high fashion, subcultural style and the zeitgeist. I have a broad range of experience which includes editing and writing across print and digital. I have worked on magazines, newspapers, websites, lookbooks, e-commerce, email newsletters, social media, product copy and homepage captions. Currently Senior Fashion Writer at The Guardian, my copywriting clients have included Topshop, Selfridges, Chloe and Whistles. I am the author of two books. 50 Style Icons Who Changed The World was published in October 2016.
An invaluable member of my team, I work as a writer and editor across the website, news pages, features pages and weekend supplement. I have an international profile and report from fashion weeks, producing polished copy under tight deadlines. I also collaborate with the commercial team and edit the news section of luxury biannual, The Fashion.
I conduct a Fashion Journalism course on the Fashion History & Theory BA, acting as an industry expert. I work on weekly two hour seminars, oversee discussions, hand out assignments and grade students’ work at the conclusion of the course.
I helped establish the editorial tone of voice for Whistles. I now work with the inhouse team on content for the website, lookbooks, social media and other messaging.

I worked with Plus Agency on Ugg’s biannual lookbook, the Bulletin. I produced concepts, liaised with talent and worked directly with Ugg’s international representatives, and writers in other territories to establish brand voice. I wrote product copy, email text, captions and video content. I also contributed to the agency's Supplement magazine, and worked on brand pitches.
I worked on the Fashion Features desk on the magazine and on several supplements. I wrote and commissioned features and sourced images to create a slick final product.
I generated innovative ideas for the Saturday supplement, commissioned features and worked with columnists on weekly content. I sourced interviews with designers and celebrities, and wrote features on fashion personalities.
I edited several issues of 214 magazine, working closely with Topshop’s creative team. I produced the magazine from start to finish, generating ideas, commissioning international writers, conducting interviews and writing features and cover lines. I also wrote copy for promotions in the US and Australia.
I worked with a small team on the monthly magazine across the features and front section curating content on a theme each issue. I also secured interviews with talent in fashion, music and film, and regularly wrote features across all of these sectors.
