I work in the OMD Create department, collaborating with designers and social media managers on a variety of lifestyle and luxury beauty brands. I create social (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) copy and video for Playdoh, Monopoly, Celebrity Cruises, Eurotunnel, Heinz Baby, OPI, and Southeastern, as well as creating content calendars. Also, I write long form copy for Eurotunnel, Boots, Alamo and Royal Caribbean. I edit the junior copywriter’s long form content, providing guidance and advice. Along with the account managers, executives and designers, I develop monthly social media strategies for my clients. I have been involved in creative strategy brainstorm sessions for Channel 4, NSPC, easyJet and PepsiCo.
I worked in a client-facing team of four on the Unilever account, creating successful copy and content calendars, for 23 brands including Magnum, Axe, Vaseline, Comfort, Hellmann’s and Pond’s. The brands were global, so the content would be regularly translated for international markets. We often worked to tight deadlines, working on multiple projects each with a different tone of voice and audience. I regularly undertook extensive SEO keyword research, and utilised Google Analytics to support our article recommendations to the brands. I worked on the Digital 2.0 project, a total change in the Unilever brand’s websites. For the Axe 2.0 project, we achieved Google page one ranking for hairstyle keywords: ‘men’s short hair,' ‘short sides long top,' ‘combover,' ‘messy hair men,' and ‘rockabilly pompadour’.
I was the main copywriter on the content team. Working on a variety of clients, I would create SEO based content for different audiences, and create in-house tone of voice guides. In my time at DBD Media I pitched projects, then worked on them through to their live date. I’d regularly complete content and competitor audits, focusing on content and SEO. We worked very closely with clients, and I was in constant communication with marketing assistants through to managing directors. I passed the IPA Search Certificate with Merit.
Mostly, I wrote website copy, press releases, B2B documents, case studies, brochures and marketing material. I also worked with the graphics department during major rebranding.
I completed a joint honours degree reading English Language and Literature, with theory and practical studies in Film & Television. My dissertation was titled 'The Use of Tragedy in Comedy, Focusing on The Office and The Royle Family'.
