I was the Event Producer for The Degree Show at Ravensbourne, which was a volunteering role whilst I was finishing my degree. This event was a three day exhibition, showcasing the talents of the third year graduating students at Ravensbourne. I was in charge of the entire production of this high profile event, with over 5000 visitors registered to attend. I managed a budget of £65,000 and was responsible for raising invoices and purchase orders to pay suppliers. I had to track the progress of my team of over 80 people, which included a team of Engineers, Creative Directors, Hospitality, and Operations Directors. This gave me a great sight into different management areas, something I learnt an incredible amount from. I worked closely with staff and students across the institution as well as industry professionals across the Broadcast and Media Industries. I managed to raise sponsorship with two high profile companies, AVID and Knight Dragon, which was a beneficial experience. This was an incredibly challenging role, but also very rewarding as I was able test various skills I feel I possess, including time management, problem solving, multitasking and many more.
I had 6 weeks work experience working for BT Sport on their TV show, Rugby Tonight. I shadowed the floor manager and production team helping with the organisation of running a production. This work experience gave me a great insight into how a TV production runs from pre production, to production.
