About me
My final major project is exploring a mother’s journey through organ donation and transplantation. I soon realised this was a huge topic to cover with such a short deadline, so narrowed down my focus to a more manageable area given the timescale I had to work with. I was particularly interested in exploring my own emotions surrounding the subject, delving into the psychology of paediatric medical traumatic stress (PMTS) drawing from my own personal experiences. Focusing on fear and love I wanted to evoke emotion in the viewer. Entitled Desperate Obsession, it is a raw emotional subject. Although I began my studies with a greater interest and experience in stitch, I seem to have completely abandoned the familiar in favour of the new and exciting techniques I have been introduced to throughout my programme. I am particularly drawn to relief and intaglio printing techniques, the continuous line and use digital tools to aid my practice. I continue to add to my growing knowledge of all things inky. I am inspired by artists from a variety of disciplines, current influences are Sally Mann, Frida Kahlo, Vivian Maier, Anthony Burrill, Alan Kitching, Bill Fick... I intend to continue working through further aspects of the broad subject of organ donation and transplant post BA and build upon my technical printmaking knowledge. I will be carrying forward my training to the next level by obtaining a post graduate certificate in education working with students in post compulsory education.

Teaching Assistant within the Saturday Art Club. I worked with up to 60 children who would join us every Saturday morning, we taught a variety of art and design based techniques, drawing, printing, painting etc. The students were divided into two groups, 6-11 and 11-16 year olds. I worked predominantly with the 11-16 year olds, but on occasions, the younger age group depending on business needs. I also covered the teaching position when there was staff absence.
