About me

I have spent the last 6 years working for the University of Brighton and writing creatively in my spare time. I have also edited a couple of study guides for Palgrave Macmillan. The majority of the work I do for the university is editing, proofreading, and in small parts rewriting various bits of written work for staff members before it goes either to publication or is published internally within the university. I would like to take up a role more focussed on the writing. This could be general copywriting, product descriptions, long copy, social media copywriting work, general content creation and writing. I love to be given subject matter that is new to me, do my research and write about it. I am very knowledgeable around sports, fashion, environmental, education, and social related issues. I have written content for my own website, the written content for a company that provide services to researchers and PhD students, film synopses that have been used as part of promotional packages for a number of independent film makers, researched and written for a small advertising company on SEO, and the content for a website now up and running that promotes a university professor and their work. I have been hired and even headhunted by screenwriters, film directors and script editors to help with editing their work and to advise on narrative development and concept creation and occasionally to write entire scripts for them. This is what I do in my spare time, so writing is in fact one of my hobbies and I am constantly working on totally different things, expanding my skills and being versatile. This shows my capabilities when asked to create a concept, or follow a style that is personal to the client or an in-house style related to a company. In 2014 I completed a professional writing MA. Two of the modules were business writing, copywriting and editorial based. Every time I have been given a task it has been returned to an employer or client as an original, well researched and well presented piece at a high standard of English with a quick turnover from request to delivery. Currently I live in Cambridge working remotely for the University of Brighton having moved from office work to home. I am looking for full time, part time or freelance work and would be interested in roles in Cambridge or London.
