Interning at a publishing house involved adapting to working swiftly and efficiently in a hectic team-based environment. My role consisted of a high level of planning and organisation e.g. to ensure that deadlines were met, meetings and events ran smoothly and that a clear correspondence with suppliers and distributers was maintained.
I most recently held the position of Co-Editor of Lippy magazine, an independent publication created, run and published by a diverse team of women. Our aim since our establishment some 30 years ago has been to provide a platform for thinking voices, collaborating with local charities, organisations, and creatives. This role predominantly involved managing the editorial and design teams, selling advertising space, leading marketing campaigns, and ensuring that the elements of design, writing, and finance ran smoothly.
Administration support to include organisation of teaching/learning resources, management of pupil healthcare data, and reception duties. This position also required the attainment of an enhanced CRB/DBS clearance to work with children/young people and vulnerable adults.
