Work history
    Curatorial Assistant
ILHAM is a public art gallery in the heart of Kuala Lumpur devoted to the development of Malaysian modern and contemporary art within a regional and global context. I worked closely with the curators, Rahel Joseph and Simon Soon, to produce their latest exhibition, 'Love Me in My Batik'. The exhibition explores the development of batik painting as a significant modern art form in Malaysia and beyond, from 1950s to the present day. The exhibition consists of 70 batik works by Indonesian and Malaysian artists and considers the individual aesthetic identities of the work produced. During my internship, I oversaw the preparation for the exhibition, the exhibition launch, and the organisation of workshops and events. I was responsible for proofreading and editing wall texts, the exhibition catalogue, press releases and I assisted in curatorial decisions. I also managed the gallery's website, social media sites and organised artist talks, flights and accommodation.
