Lisa Matzi is a graphic designer and design researcher based in London. She recently graduated from the Design for Graphic Communication course at the London College of Communications. She has won several design awards including a ‘Best Book Design from all over the World’ Silver Medal at the book fair in Leipzig and a Joseph Binder Bronze Award, both for her self-published book about her quirky family. She loves thought-provoking, clever design concepts and avocados.
I have been working as a freelance graphic designer for three years now. My clients included an independent radio station in Austria, UNIDO, the University of Vienna, People Of Print as well as IDEO/OI Engine and several Start Up companies.
citizenme is a London based Start Up that helps people take control of their data and let's companies harness the power of this data to do market research. I have been working on both the B2B and the B2C products including a web app as well as a smartphone application (both iOS and Android). I carried out a lot of research for both products via running focus groups, co-creation workshops with stakeholders as well as interviews and quantitative research. I was responsible for the redesign of the mobile apps from wireframing to shipping the product beginning of March 2016.
After attending the first coding bootcamp I have been approached by SuperHi founder Rik Lomas to help improve the interface of the SuperHi beta web app based on my experiences. SuperHi is an online coding platform that makes coding websites easy and accessible for just about anyone. Based on my own experiences whilst learning coding and feedback from peers we changed the the layout of the code editor and added features such as a preview with resizing handle and 'little helper' tooltips.
My responsibility was updating the presentation decks and website with updated branding materials for IDEO's product OIEngine. I have also been working closely with the consulting team to curate the case studies and content of their web presence.
Graphic Designer and Junior Art Director The job was very vesatile and the responsibilities reached from Branding and Editorial Design to Illustration and Packaging. Due to the studio being very small I was in direct contact with all of my clients and also gained vital skills in terms of project presentation and pitches.
After having studied Design for Graphic Communication at LCC, London - a course with a strong focus on Design Thinking and Human-Centred Design - I had a good understanding of User Experience Design and how to develop user focused products. But having worked in this field for over a year now most of my knowledge surrounding this topic was self taught. To fill in the gaps and get an even better understanding I have started the UX part time course at General Assembly to strengthen my skills even more.

I have been awarded a print futures award by the St. Bride's Foundation in 2015 to help develop my career as a designer.
For my project "Schwarze Hunde & Bunte Schafe" I received the Silver Medal for extraordinary achievement in the book arts. This award has been given to me at the well known book fair in Leipzig.
