• The Just So Festival 2016
The Just So Festival 2016The Just So Festival is an annual family camping weekend where art, literature, music and theatre is entwined in wonderous natural landscape.
I am responsible for coordinating volunteers at each event, from the point of recruitment through to when they leave site. I allocate them into teams and roles which mirror their interests, capabilities and availability. From this I create information packs for each volunteer: giving them a detailed insight into their role, information about the event they’re volunteering at and introducing them to other members of their team.
I also manage volunteer communications. This can be anything from responding to volunteer queries to creating detailed information packs for each event. Most importantly this aspect of my role is about building and sustaining relationships with volunteers, through emails, phone calls, social media and onsite to ensure that they have an enjoyable and stimulating experience of volunteering with us and will feel inclined to volunteer again.
I assist with the management of volunteers on-site for events.
Alongside this I manage databases for the event, perform admin duties and create and manage the Guest List.

Work history
    Volunteer, Admin and Event Coordinator
I am currently a Volunteer, Admin and Event Co-ordinator at Wild Rumpus CIC. I am responsible for coordinating volunteers at each event, from the point of recruitment through to when they leave site. I feel this gives me insight and experience creating and working within volunteer programmes. One aspect of my role is to research new ways to recruit volunteers. I have previously researched different institutions which have access to potential volunteers. I contact them to see how best we can cater to their volunteers’ needs. These vary from universities, colleges, community arts groups and volunteering services. This ensures we give as many people as possible, from a variety of backgrounds, the opportunity to engage in what we do. I recruit volunteers by generating volunteer roles which cater for the different needs of each type of volunteer who might be interested in volunteering on our events. From this I write interesting and engaging content for job descriptions. I circulate these job descriptions around a variety of institutions and post on popular volunteering and jobs sites to ensure they are widely available and to increase intake. I manage all volunteer communications. I co-ordinate volunteers for each event. I allocate them into teams and roles which mirror their interests, capabilities and availability. From this I create information packs for each volunteer: giving them a detailed insight into their role, information about the event they’re volunteering at and introducing them to other members of their team. Once most volunteers are confirmed and happy with their role and the event is fast approaching, I create rotas for the event which cater for each volunteer’s needs and ensuring that we are following best practice at all times. I assist with the management of volunteers on-site for events. I lead volunteer inductions and training about safeguarding and health and safety, as well as morning briefings ensuring that they are well prepared for their roles at their event. When the event is live, I am in charge of their welfare ensuring that they happy, have had breaks and most importantly motivating them. Working in outdoor events as a staff member or a volunteer can be hard work whether its long hours or bad weather, so I always try and make a role fun through humour and positivity, and rewarding volunteers for hard work through praise and encouragement or even the occasional chocolate muffin!
