Work history
Womens Jersey Designer
- Cheltenham, United KingdomFull Time
• Research competitors, street style and catwalks that are relevant for the brand
• Create seasonal directional as part of a team
• To deliver collection inspiration, colour palettes, key new fabrics & trims, and new silhouette ideas
through detailed trend research and UK and international shopping trips
• Plan a whole range against an option framework, with a seasonal average of 100-175 styles
• Ownership of Graphic and Essential jersey tops, while closely supporting sweats and jersey dresses
• Previously had ownership of womens underwear, lounge and socks. The season I worked on underwear
made it the biggest growing area YOY out of all womenswear categories.
• Building strong relationships with suppliers through overseas travel to the Far East, India and Europe
• Work closely with buying and merchandising teams to produce a range with clear price architecture
and taking into consideration sales feedback
• Managing an assistant designer, overseeing their work to achieve a cohesive range, while motivating
their personal development
• Produce detailed and accurate design packs with CADs for each style that is designed, as well as
informative overviews.
• Present the new collection to the wider business, inc. CEO and execs at the end of the season
• Work alongside Garment Tech to deliver the right fit, look and feel for every garment
• Pro actively monitor best/worst sellers and work alongside the buyers to suggest actions to continually
innovate
• Effective time management, both for myself and my teams, adhering to the departmental critical path
and meeting crucial deadlines.
• Working alongside our Fabric Department to introduce sustainable and organic fibres into our ranges
• Use PLM throughout the whole design process to track status of the product life
