I am a positive, creative and enthusiastic designer with experience across womens jersey casual wear, underwear & loungewear. I’m looking for a new challenge so I can develop my skills and push myself to the next level.
• Research competitors, street style and catwalks that are relevant for the brand • Create seasonal directional as part of a team • To deliver collection inspiration, colour palettes, key new fabrics & trims, and new silhouette ideas through detailed trend research and UK and international shopping trips • Plan a whole range against an option framework, with a seasonal average of 100-175 styles • Ownership of Graphic and Essential jersey tops, while closely supporting sweats and jersey dresses • Previously had ownership of womens underwear, lounge and socks. The season I worked on underwear made it the biggest growing area YOY out of all womenswear categories. • Building strong relationships with suppliers through overseas travel to the Far East, India and Europe • Work closely with buying and merchandising teams to produce a range with clear price architecture and taking into consideration sales feedback • Managing an assistant designer, overseeing their work to achieve a cohesive range, while motivating their personal development • Produce detailed and accurate design packs with CADs for each style that is designed, as well as informative overviews. • Present the new collection to the wider business, inc. CEO and execs at the end of the season • Work alongside Garment Tech to deliver the right fit, look and feel for every garment • Pro actively monitor best/worst sellers and work alongside the buyers to suggest actions to continually innovate • Effective time management, both for myself and my teams, adhering to the departmental critical path and meeting crucial deadlines. • Working alongside our Fabric Department to introduce sustainable and organic fibres into our ranges • Use PLM throughout the whole design process to track status of the product life
During my time at Knitmania I worked as Design Assistant on the Miss Selfridge account. This would involve pattern cutting, selecting jersey fabrics, and then working with the in-house production team to make up initial samples. I would gather research from high street retailers as well as keep up to date with catwalk shows. Before I was placed on the Miss Selfridge account I supported other accounts, such as Topshop, Urban Outfitters, ASOS and River Island. I designed many different jersey items including tops, dresses, casual jackets and leggings.
