I am currently a second year Fashion Journalism student at the University for the Creative Arts in Epsom. I have found the course to be incredibly useful for expanding my skills and knowledge of the industry. I have been able to develop my writing skills through interviewing and writing news, trend and debate pieces. I have also had experience styling photoshoots. I am very interested in fashion throughout the ages. My favourite eras are the 60s, 70s and 80s. Some of my favourite designers include Henry Holland, Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen. In my spare time I like to visit art galleries and exhibitions. Recently I visited the Savage Beauty exhibition at the V&A which was a retrospective of Alexander McQueen’s past collections. I also like visiting the Saatchi Gallery . Writing is my main passion and I have wanted to be a writer from a young age. Some of my favourite books include The Bell Jar and The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I am also passionate about music and attend gigs regularly. I also have a blog where I review current music releases.
I worked in Customer Services so my role was to exchange and refund items for customers. I also worked on the shop floor tidying up once the store had closed.
As a volunteer my responsibilities included serving customers, tagging items ready for them to be priced, dressing the shop window, tidying the shop at the end of the day and sorting through donations to decide which items will be sold.
