Rather it is born out of long years of creative and technical know-how, and, above all, a love for the job and all that goes with it.” Having attained a degree in Television Production BA (Hons) I have since gained experience within the field of television broadcasting, having found substantial footing within a diverse industry which facilitates the various ambitions, skills and passion of those who dwell within it. As currently based at IMG studios, working for Premier League Productions, I continue my work within live sports broadcasting. My Bachelor’s degree was dedicated to developing my core skills in creative development, production management and business strategy. As an innovative and industrious person, I recognise having the drive to push forward is not enough within this industry and, rather, knowledge, passion and experience are better and more valued commodities. With this in mind, my focus is in pursuing the active trade of this ever-growing industry primarily in the field of Production Management. In terms of personal interests, I have an avid interest in photography and photo editing as well as radio broadcasting having previously co-hosted local a public radio channel and produced the content for regular live features. I am very passionate about sport/sport broadcasting for television, particularly in the field of football and rugby. I equally enjoy performance based works, whether theatrical in nature or competitive. Examples of which include previous experiences as had during my higher education within the Rotary Club hosted debate competitions as Chief Speaker and Chairman of our elected body. This discursive hobby also extends to writing, particularly that of fictional shorts, scripts and am in process of completing an Open University course in Creative Writing. As Production Manager for The Raw, an urban music video as funded/backed by Arts Council England, NFTS and the BFI, I was responsible for the coordination of all logistical and practical elements of this shoot. I managed the scheduling of cast and crew, ensured that health and safety rules, insurance terms and copyright laws were followed. I equally negotiated the hiring of equipment, liaised with local authorities, obtained permits, controlled the finances and cost tracked all budgetary spends, organised all related paperwork (release forms etc), the sourcing of props, created call sheets, risk assessments, managed the production team, located/approved bookings of resources, locations, equipment and the other various supplies as utilised.
provide the administrative support for Premier League Productions across Channel & Core programming. Responsible for scripting, production administration in invoice processing, purchase ordering, creating accounts journals, post-production paperwork (PAP’s, archive lists, music cue sheets etc.) as well as facilitating and organising the setup of single camera shoots, alongside Production Coordinators. This includes booking crew, contributors, equipment, travel, accommodation, visas and completing call sheets. It is my responsibility to be across all logistical elements of production in various fields and several different platforms and shows.
I was responsible for organising the filming of international events and provided the necessary logistical assistance for all practical challenges as incurred. I was also responsible for the liaison and coordination with press office for these event as well as providing the accommodation, staffing of crew and freelancers, car hire, kit booking and all-round transportation for all operations on shoot. Having worked to budgets, recorded costs and dealt with reconciling receipts, financial skills were key. Other duties included checking running orders and scripts, creating/distributing call sheets, creating risk assessments, sorting carnets, insurance/visa and other pre/post production paperwork. As well as logistical assistance, I operated as camera assistant/onsite coordinator as part of a 4 man ENG crew covering the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup in Falsterbo, Sweden.
As head of department, my time was required in an administrative, secretarial as well as management sense in both assisting various different sporting productions coordinating a pool of freelance and contract runners. As part of operating within the broadcast facilities team, I scheduled meetings, created/updated staffing rotas and managed crew and the allocation of shifts. I provided training of in house protocols to new starters and it was my role to oversee the organisation of all client based meetings as had in-house. It was pivotal in my role to provide key hospitality and client care as a central point of communication within the studios as well as manage correspondence & documentation for the expenditures as made by the department and neighbouring production teams as well as directly assisting the finance department with various other ad hoc duties.
Researching content for documentary projects featured heavily in my role whilst operating alongside production staff in developing new concepts for television programming. This included contacting and sourcing contributors as well as compiling audience market research. I also par-took in the time coding and the transcription of programming as created for broadcasting channels as Sky and C4 as well as assisted the post-production team in our promo edits. Time was shared on location for the filming of Channel 4's 'Troy'. During this time, I assisted the crew as production runner as well as providing my services as a shot logger on set.
I identified key opportunities within various markets for the integration of mobile advertising solutions and innovations for digital expenditure whilst integrating my knowledge of online/digital marketing including affiliates and the social media. Experienced in presenting and pitching ideas to external clients, this role demanded my skills in researching, accumulating and handling data needed for establishing market findings and writing reports, whilst liaising said information with senior partners and creating sales pitches for clients within this B2B platform. In identifying key opportunities within various markets for the integration of mobile advertising solutions and innovations for digital expenditure, I developed strategies for said implications and presented them to potential clients. This role demanded the development and maintenance of relationships with many integral clients, key demographics and a great awareness of whom were targeting with knowledge of not only the product and content as offered, but how to best communicate information for greatest collective outcome.
I provided support to the international commentators as they reported live from the Olympic Stadium. Accommodating for these commentators as TV and radio broadcast journalists and analysts required being able to facilitate and manage the equipment as used in their specially designed and built commentary positions and as provided by OBS during their international transmissions in providing live coverage to their national audience. It was important to defuse any stress or frustration as experienced during this live broadcast on behalf of the Commentators by understanding their predicaments, knowing the correct means in which to operate the equipment and communicating well. It was vital I was able to assist them effectively, competently and quickly. I received in-depth technical and operational training using OBS state-of-the-art commentary equipment ahead of the Games. Each game day I tested the equipment before each broadcast and assisted the crew with trouble-shooting commentary issues and operating the Commentary Control equipment during each broadcast. As a CCR, I had to interact with broadcasters from around the world as well as assist with venue installations. On a hands on capacity it was effective for developing my understanding in the field of sound, IT and engineering in the live broadcasting field and as well as this technical knowledge , good communication skills were exercised in ensuring all persons were well facilitated for.
I provided assistance as part of the BBC’s art department within CBeebies in prop production as well as runner/assistant on set and project content researcher when based within the production office as part of a BBC training scheme. I assisted in rehearsals for the television show; Justin’s House, performed as runner on location for studio filming for the television show; NumTums and during office hours I formatted scripts, sourced VO artists and partook in the assistance of various editing processes of in- house projects.
The office based role required utilising a knowledge of current affairs for documentary content research as well as accumulating contributors, logging archive footage and assistance with in-house running duties. I worked across a variety of shows including Dickinson's Bargain Hunt, coordinating the press event and publication of the production company's showing of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake as filmed by the team and timecoding/transcribing shows such as Britain's Bravest Cops amongst others.
