About me

As a creative people person with an enquiring mind, I'm adept at identifying what users really need. My skills in UX, Interface and Interaction Design and Visual Design add value to my clients' projects. As a Central Saint Martins Fine Art graduate, my love for visual design influences everything I do. This enthusiasm is applied when considering layout, colour, typography, iconography and when adhering to brand identity guidelines. I began freelancing in design in 2013 working on projects for the London Eye, The Telegraph and the V&A Museum. To accelerate my progress, I trained in UX on the User Experience Design Immersive course at General Assembly this summer. My portfolio of UX case studies includes documentation such as sketches, user persona, wireframes and prototypes. These demonstrate my ability to interpret, simplify and present data to back up my decisions. My friendly approach comes in handy when conducting interviews, participatory design sessions and user testing.

Education

2015

User Experience Design Immersive

General Assembly

May 2015 - Jul 2015
  • During my 3 months training at GA, I worked with teams of fellow UX/UI designers on various projects, including a client-facing project for Movebubble, a rental property search app. The bootcamp course syllabus included: User Research: Understand how users interact with products through methods like interviewing, observation, and testing. This allowed me to create products that fits the users’ needs. Interaction & Interface Design: Define the way digital products interact with users in order to make it simple, user-friendly, and beautiful. This allowed me to create a product that people love to use. Prototyping & Testing: Created interactive prototypes to test my designs and ideas in front of real users. Iterated and evolved concepts into a digital product. This allowed me to create a product that actually works. Working with Teams & Clients: Collaborated with real clients and stakeholders, fellow designers and users to solve design problems and create real products.

2007

BA Fine Art

Central Saint Martins

Aug 2004 - Jun 2007
  • BA Fine Art creates a focus for sustained critical engagement, enabling both specialisation and interdisciplinary communities of practice. The degree course: Promoted experimental, investigative and historically, theoretically and critically informed approaches to art making. Emphasised collaborative and socially engaged practice and develops negotiation, management and team skills through external projects, alternative spaces and site-specific opportunities. Was proactively taught through a wide range of events, led by a highly research-active staff team practising professionally across diverse media, supported by guest speakers and expert technicians. Developed a wide range of specialist and transferable skills including research, planning, documentation, evaluative writing, visual and verbal presentation. Offered choices of perspective in final year to support theoretical research and practice-based directions.

2004

BTEC Foundation Diploma in Art Design

South Nottingham College

Aug 2003 - Jun 2004
  • This course provided a diagnostic experience to move into Higher Education and then pursue my career in Art & Design. It was concerned with the development of the individual, encouraging me to experiment with and to develop a range of skills and concepts across Art & Design disciplines. The course aims to heighten visual and intellectual awareness through practical problem-solving activities and through critical-theoretical study. Following an intensive period of study across a range of 2D and 3D disciplines, I was encouraged to develop my individual strengths within a chosen area prior to applying to Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design.
