In times where our desires are fulfilled immediately and our goals become even more short term, Kubaras is transformed from a tabletop object to a handbag. - Terra AurisBuilding on a hypothesis that ceramic vessels can absorb and store sounds from the environments that were placed within, STUDIOLAV designed a terracotta vase that could act as a communication device. Although the hypothesis is not proven yet, it is believed that if true, then it could be possible in the future to retrieve, extract and isolate sounds or even whole conversations from vessels. STUDIOLAV is a London based studio, founded by Loukas Angelou and Vasso Asfi, offering product and interior design services. The use of narrative is central to their work, which often focuses on the emotional connection between people, objects and their environment. They draw inspiration from heritage, tradition and everyday encounters to create and tell new exciting stories through their work. Their approach is detail and material focused and the final product simple but rich in context.
STUDIOLAV was nominated Young Talent Designer at Elle Decoration International Design Awards and shortlisted for the BIO23 Design Biennial Award in Ljubljana in 2012. Our work has been exhibited in the Royal Academy of Arts in London, MUDEC 2015 and other international design events.
