Full-time 3-month internship working in West Hollywood, LA, for prominent author, journalist, TV presenter, blogger and social media influencer Louise Roe. I worked with Louise and her close-knit team to help run her social media channels, blog, online shop, and everything in between. I saw and learned about every side of the business she runs, from travelling around LA for photoshoots and creating content and copy for her blog and social media, to attending brand partnership meetings and producing monthly analytics reports.
DUCFS is the biggest social event at Durham University and the largest of its kind in the UK, with more than 1,800 guests in attendance. We raised over £106,000 in aid of Mind and were awarded Best Society Event at the NSU National Society Awards in May 2018. My role as Vice President was Operations based and I worked with the President and Creative Vice President to lead a team of 20 students to design, create and execute DUCFS 2018. While I was involved in every aspects of the show, my main focus was on managing the Logistics, Sponsorship, PR, Fashion and Events teams to manage operations, finances, brand partnerships and venues, as well as coordinating with all relevant external organizations including Durham Student’s Union, County Durham Police and County Council.
DUCFS 2017 was named the most profitable student-run charity event in the UK, raising over £75,000 for the International Rescue Committee (up from £27,000 raised by DUCFS 2016) and Event of the Year at The National Student Fundraising Awards 2017. I worked within the PR and Marketing team, creating and organizing all advertising content and copy, with independent control of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter and Soundcloud. I developed excellent communication and digital skills, learned to work efficiently with previously unfamiliar team members to create an exceptional 2-night event, and developed a thorough understanding of the importance of aesthetics and analytical data with regards to branding and social media.
