Bringing design concepts to life for the new capsule womenswear collection. My passion is the entire process of garment construction; from initial patterns through the problem solving nature of fittings & manufacture, to the finished article. I have a good eye for colour & texture combinations, & I have plenty of inspiration from the companies original ethos & style.
Working at this New York based menswear label, as part of the design development team, on the Fall Winter '14 collection. Working on this collection challenged my traditional approach to tailoring, by incorporating technical sporting fabrics. It reinforced the importance of functionality in menswear with in the evolution of each season. With in the studio my roles were pattern alterations, research, specification drawings & sample development & manufacture. I also assisted the Production Manager. Working in New York's Garment District, my roles included sourcing materials & trims, liaising with factories & suppliers, as well as learning the process between Patrik Ervell & it's stockists worldwide.
Agi & Sam are a fast emerging British menswear brand. I was part of the team throughout the process of the Autumn Winter '14 collection; their second show at Victoria House for London Collection: Men's. Agi & Sam also won the Best Emerging Menswear award at the British Fashion Awards 2013, during my time with them. My responsibilities included: Creating patterns from original design drawings; manufacturing and developing samples from these patterns. I mainly worked on complex outerwear pieces, jackets & trousers, using my valuable Savile Row experience to tailor & fix any issues with the fit of the garments. Developing my critical analysis skills to edit & create a commercially viable, but undoubtable fashion forward collection. Liaising with factories, suppliers & sourcing fabrics & trims. Studio Supervisor - Aiding the smooth running of the studio & team of interns, in order to stay focused on the critical path & meet our targets. This allowed me to develop & strengthen my managerial skills, & experience the some of the ways a smaller business is run.
