Click to edit position descriptionHA HA is an artist-run gallery in Southampton; I work there as Gallery Assistant and Campaign Manager which involves devising and implementing funding strategies, contacting curators and artists, commissioning and promoting exhibitions, writing and sending press releases, liaising with media, press and critics, promoting the gallery directly at private views and art events, using the gallery’s social media outlets, installing / de-installing shows and background admin work.
At ArtReview, I spent my time sourcing and creating databases of advertising clients and potential partners, aiding the MD in booking and processing advertising and managing sales, speaking French on her behalf with Francophone galleries, co-ordinating affairs and events with contacts from international galleries and auction houses, and liaising between the MD and the production and editorial teams. In this role I had to act efficiently and intuitively, responding swiftly to both the needs of a given situation as well as anticipating those of my boss, co-workers and company. I gained strong knowledge of galleries (particularly in Europe and North America), artists, auction houses, publications and the general workings of the art world. My key achievements include opening up relations between ArtReview and a number of important, French-speaking Canadian galleries such as Parisian Laundry and Galerie Trois Points, meeting with gallery directors at the Frieze Art Fair on behalf of the Managing Director and devising a better CRM strategy that was then implemented across the whole company. I was also proud to have my name eventually listed in the magazine’s masthead underneath those of the Chairman and Managing Director.
