I was the manager of the Tailoring, Denim and Outerwear departments, with an annual turnover of £35M.
Within this roll I reported into the Merchandising Manager and oversaw a team consisting of an Assistant Merchandiser and a Merchandising admin assistant.
Responsibilities:
• Present to company Directors in the weekly trade meetings, with an action for the week or month ahead to highlight any potential growth to sales and minimise risk.
• Plan the budgets for each season being mindful of previous year’s Sales, ROS, Sell thru and key events but also the company’s strategy for the year ahead.
• Plan and present to the Directors the in season and out of season strategy with the use of accompanying documentation and analysis to justify decisions.
• Work closely with Buying and Design teams to create a cohesive and commercial range for the target market.
• Regular meetings with the Web team to discuss stock levels, options and opportunities for other digital channels.
• Review Google Analytical reports to recognise trends and key searches throughout the year and plan growth for the Website.
• Oversee all web uploads for my departments and ensure products are on time and correct.
• Manage department and category level WSSIs and OTB including the forecasting of Sales, Stock, Intake and Margin.
• Use the trade meetings to understand the International and Wholesale market and help trade into these areas. Also ensure product is delivered to match their season launch.
• Forecast Markdown spend for planned and adhoc sale events.
• Oversee the Intake Margin roll for the company by department, supplier and present findings to the Directors flagging up any concerns.
• Oversee Assistant Merchandiser reporting process to ensure concise, accurate and timely information is received by team and Merchandiser Director.
• Conduct annual reviews with realistic but stretch goal setting in line with company KPIs
• Actively involved in the recruitment process.
Key Achievements:
• Achieving the best Outerwear sales in the last 4 years in a tough climate without impacting the Profit Margin. Sales lift by +9% with Profit margin +5%.
• Team development with the MAA being promoted to Senior MAA.
• Creating a new Intake Margin roll for the company that is not only easy to use but also helps to identify any potential issues with a supplier.
