Since finishing University I have been doing part-time internships, my most recent was working for the infamous art charity Artangel. My duties included: Dealing with the press for each individual project, formatting on Photoshop for use in the office. Updating the website with new artist CVs and portraits Customer service: greeting and assisting artists and visitors to the offices Responding to emails and liaising with artists and designers through emails: written communication Providing support to all members of the team, assisting them with a number of tasks
I was responsible for scheduling appointments at not only the salon in Clapton but also in Dalston, Peckham, Brockley, Brixton and Stratford. The skills I have learned from this position have taught me a valuable lesson in responsibility, which I handle well. It is my duty to respond to all emails and post, organising them effectively yet quickly. I would arrive early to the salon each day in order to cash up, this means I would have to be efficient, I had excellent time management. At the end of the week, I would work out the totals of each stylist and keep track of how much the individual salons were making. A less prominent yet still important duty was keeping Blue Tits social media active and up to date.
I was awarded a 2:1 from Central Saint Martins in Criticism, Communication, and Curation where I gained an excellent knowledge in written and verbal communication skills. I learned to work within the field of arts organisations and it taught me the direction I wanted to head in my own art form.
